World Boss: Setis

Setis world boss guide for Conquest of Azeroth — Gatekeeper of the scorching desert, release July 8 2026, loot, strategy, and group composition on Vol'jin.

Setis — Gatekeeper of the Sands

Setis is the first post-launch world boss on Vol'jin, released July 8, 2026 per the official Ascension timeline. Brave scorching desert sands and seek the Gatekeeper — a large-scale open-world encounter requiring organized groups of 20–40 players.

World bosses in CoA drop immersive gear, upgrade materials, and rare reagents complementary to Mythic+ and raid loot. Setis introduces launch-week players to coordinated open-world content before Azuregos, Kazzak, and the Ascension-exclusive Soggoth rotate in.

Preparation and Composition

Bring a balanced raid-sized group: two tanks, three healers, at least one Support spec, and DPS covering AoE add control plus single-target boss damage. Hybrid Risk High zones may attract PvP during the attempt — travel with guild escorts or use rested-zone staging.

Fire and nature resistance help against desert-themed mechanics. Assign interrupt teams for any castable boss abilities and designate kiters for mobile adds.

Loot and Weekly Rotation

Setis drops CoA-tuned immersive pieces for multiple armor types. Weekly lockouts or kill credit rules follow current Vol'jin patch settings — check zone tooltips at encounter start.

After Setis, the timeline continues with Azuregos (July 12), Kazzak (July 15), and Soggoth (July 17). See Vol'jin Live Roadmap for the full schedule.
