CoA Is Live — What Changed After Launch

Conquest of Azeroth launched free to play on July 3, 2026 on Vol'jin. You no longer need PTR access or a Travel Guide key — create a free Ascension account, select Conquest of Azeroth in the launcher, and play immediately.

Launch week population is high. Expect crowded starting zones, long dungeon queues for popular DPS specs, and fast-moving economy on the auction house. Support and healer specs find groups quickly — consider Guardian (Inspiration), Ranger (Farstrider), or Sun Cleric (Blessings) if you want instant party invites.

Day 1–2: Create, Connect, Level to 10

Install the Ascension launcher from ascension.gg/download. Select Conquest of Azeroth (not PTR) and log into Vol'jin. Create your character — explore customization options documented in our Character Customization feature page.

Complete starting zone quests through level 9. At level 10, visit your class trainer to choose your specialization and unlock dual talent trees. Pick a spec aligned with your goal: Animation Necromancer and Brutality Barbarian for fast solo leveling; Inspiration Guardian or Farstrider Ranger for group demand.

Enable Auto-Build for your first character if talent math feels overwhelming — switch to manual planning before level 30 when Ability Essences matter. Use the Talent Calculator to preview endgame layouts.

Day 3–5: Dungeons, Professions, Level 30

Push toward level 30 through expanded zone quest chains and dungeon queues. CoA's expanded Azeroth adds POIs and rare elites — kill reworked creatures for immersive gear with proc effects that outperform plain quest greens.

Pick primary professions by level 15. Start Woodcutting early if you plan Worldforged upgrades — timber banks during natural zone travel. Read the Professions page for Woodcutting and Woodworking.

Level 30 unlocks Ability Essences — your first major build-defining choice. Read the Ability Essences guide before spending essence points. Essence slots are limited; prioritize nodes that amplify your spec's core rotation.

Day 6–7: Endgame Preview and Community

Players hitting level 60 during launch week unlock Mythic+ keystones, Ascended raids (Molten Core, Onyxia, Blackwing Lair), Manastorm, Heroes Callboard objectives, and Hybrid Risk modes. See the Endgame Guide for the full loop.

Join a guild early — launch week guilds recruit aggressively for dungeon leveling and raid planning. Official Discord and forums at ascension.gg are the best sources for hotfix news; this wiki updates guides after major patches.

Check the Tier List for July 2026 launch meta, but play what you enjoy. Bloodmage, Reaper, and Support specs saw strong launch-week demand alongside Necromancer and Barbarian favorites.

Launch Week Pitfalls to Avoid

Do not vendor immersive gear without checking set bonuses — green immersive pieces often beat blues on raw stats for specific builds. Do not respec talents constantly; gold costs scale with level.

High Risk Hybrid Risk mode during launch week attracts gankers in contested zones. Stay on PvE mode until you understand your class defensive toolkit. Read the Hybrid Risk guide before toggling War or High Risk.

Avoid auction house overpay for level 30–40 blues — dungeon runs and immersive farming supply most slots free. Save gold for mount training and profession skill-ups.
