Ascended Raids

Ascended raid difficulty in Conquest of Azeroth — Molten Core, Onyxia, Blackwing Lair with overhauled mechanics, loot tiers, and group composition for 21 custom classes.

Raid Difficulty Tiers

Conquest of Azeroth raids launch with four difficulty tiers: Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and Ascended. Ascended is the highest challenge — new mechanics, tighter DPS checks, and best-in-slot loot for level 60 progression.

Vanilla raids return with overhauled boss fights: Molten Core, Onyxia's Lair, and Blackwing Lair feature original mechanics modernized for CoA's 21 classes and Ability Essence kits.

Launch Raid Roster

Molten Core — Ragnaros encounter with add management requiring AoE and interrupt coordination across custom class kits.

Onyxia's Lair — Broodmother fight tested with all 21 classes during alpha; phase mechanics reward spread and burst timing.

Blackwing Lair — Nefarian and chromatic dragon encounters with class-specific curse mechanics updated for CoA.

Progressive content phases unlock additional vanilla tiers post-launch — follow official patch notes for new raid releases.

Composition and Preparation

Standard 40-player raid composition: 4–6 tanks (Guardian Vanguard, Sun Cleric Seraphim, Felsworn Tyrant), 8–10 healers across cloth and plate heal specs, 2–4 Support specs for buff uptime, remainder DPS covering AoE and single-target.

Pre-raid checklist: fully enchanted gear, consumables from alchemy/cooking, essence loadouts optimized for each boss, voice comms assigned for interrupts and phase transitions.
