Woodcutting & Woodworking

Conquest of Azeroth's exclusive Woodcutting and Woodworking professions — gathering timber, crafting gear, Worldforged components, and class-specific profession interactions.

CoA-Exclusive Professions

Conquest of Azeroth adds Woodcutting and Woodworking as entirely new professions unavailable in vanilla WoW. Woodcutting gathers timber from trees, fallen logs, and specialized wood nodes across Expanded Azeroth. Woodworking transforms raw lumber into finished goods — staves, bows, shields, furniture, and critical Worldforged upgrade components.

These professions feed directly into the Worldforged item system and complement classic crafting. Every level 60 progression path benefits from wood-based components at mid and high Worldforged tiers — whether you gather yourself or buy from dedicated crafters.

Woodcutting Gathering Loop

Woodcutting interacts with environmental objects rather than ore veins or herbs. Ancient oaks in new forest POIs, petrified trees in corrupted zones, and lumber camps established by overhauled creature factions provide dense gathering clusters. Rare ancient heartwood drops from special tree nodes and world bosses — essential for top-tier Woodworking and Worldforged tier 8–9 upgrades.

Efficient farmers rotate routes through multiple wood node clusters per zone before moving on. The New Zones & POI page documents lumber camp locations with the highest node density.

  • Common Timber — basic material from trees in all expanded zones
  • Hardwood — mid-tier wood from level 30+ zones and POIs
  • Ancient Heartwood — rare drops from special nodes and world bosses
  • Treated Planks — processed intermediate for Worldforged components

Woodworking Crafting Output

Woodworking fills a gap vanilla WoW never addressed: dedicated wooden gear serving multiple armor types and weapon categories. High-level recipes require rare hardwoods, dungeon essences, and materials from other professions — creating natural trade relationships between woodworkers, blacksmiths, and enchanters.

Woodworking crafts compete with dungeon blues and immersive drops in several slots. A well-geared level 60 character often carries at least one Woodworking-crafted piece — either a Worldforged component or a direct craft like a stat staff or defensive shield.

Class and Build Interactions

Woodworking benefits ranged DPS classes needing staves and bows, tanks wanting wooden shields, and Support specs using crafted off-hands. Woodcutting pairs naturally with Woodworking but pure gatherers profit by supplying auction-house crafters during launch economy spikes.

The official July 2026 launch video highlighted Woodcutting camps in expanded zones and Woodworking as a core Worldforged material chain — plan your profession pair before level 10 to avoid expensive unlearn costs later.
